Wait for it

It didn't take long for the fundies to rear their head in the new group I'm in.  So far only one person has jumped in and it wasn't in response to me.  Another woman had mentioned that she no longer believed in Jesus, didn't believe he existed, let alone died for our sins, and followed the Torah exclusively.  This was in response to someone asking her specifically what she believed...namely the fundy.  So the fundy is "sad" but not pitying that the woman is no longer a Christian but won't pray with those of us who aren't because she believes in the TRINITY and therefore can't pray with anyone who isn't praying to him/them.

Personally I came to the conclusion before I left my fundie church that Christians were polytheists because the whole three in one thing isn't in the Bible at all, not even in concept.  It's another one of those things that we've been taught is in there, but isn't.

So I sat on my hands and didn't respond to her.  I had had problems with her in the past with her holier-than-thou attitudes.  Fortunately some of the others are gently calling her out on it.  I expect a flounce soon if she's like she used to be.

Personally I'm pretty darned happy with my spiritual path...excited, even.  But I'm not going to go out there and insist everyone does it my way or I'm going to throw a hissy and not pray with them.  One other person attempted to tell her that her path was wrong, but she's the one I unfriended before so I just shrugged that off.  I've been chatting online with another friend from there who is super-cool and even stuck with me back when I was an obnoxious fundie.  That's friendship.

I'm not getting ready for Mabon as well as I had hoped.  But wherever I end up in my preparations will be enough because I don't need to raise the bar so high I can't hop over it.

In the meantime, until my brain comes back for a visit, I'm still praying, lighting candles and meditating for seconds on end.

  1. Good idea -- let others in the group take her on. Sounds like there's quite a few who will!

  2. Thanks, Debra, but it's getting harder to sit on my hands. LOL One woman, who is one of my friends on fb already sided with the other poster saying that while she "loved" us it was the same as praying with a Satan worshiper. Unfortunately, I know what she means because I used to believe this. It's the fear-indoctrination used to keep people from forming spiritual relationships with others. Her, I'll forgive because she's been a good friend otherwise. The other two, not so much.

  3. I'm just catching up on your blog so as you see in my past comment....I have no problem "deleting" drama from my life in the form of the technical kind. Sounds like they are poison, is your time worth reading their crap? I know I'm not the president of the world, but I value my time and just am tired of drama, so I avoid it where I can. The internet is the first place and easiest place to avoid it...for me anyway.

  4. No, they're not worth my time. The ones I really like, I'm already in touch with so why endure the ones who obnoxious, arrogant know-it-alls to be with the ones I'm already friends with.
