It helps that I'm not around a system or institution where it's a way of life, or expected. But I still have that baggage.

It does help to consider who I am in the scheme of thing. I feel much better about myself these days.Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01277981757643955577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8008578250555065496.post-3739044044639074452010-07-14T18:40:31.354-05:002010-07-14T18:40:31.354-05:00I was getting so down on myself when I went throug...I was getting so down on myself when I went through a period where I didn't do my morning meditation/incense/candle lighting. And then I realized that I was harshing on myself much in the same way I did when I was a fundie xian for not doing daily Bible readings and prayer time. And yeah, I was at church Sundays, Sunday evenings, Wednesdays and usually did small group some other time during the week. As soon as I realized what I was doing I stopped. It also occurred to me that I was reading between 4 and 6 books a month on spirituality, contemplation, and other religions as well as the history of xianity. I thought about spirituality ALL. THE. TIME. I read blogs about spirituality. I belonged to discussion boards that talked about religion and spirituality.

At the same time I was learning to see every moment of my life as something mysterious and spiritual. It was spiritual to wash a dish, to take out the garbage. I was becoming pretty Zen. ;)

Anyway, all this to say, as much as you consider who you are in the big scheme of things and how to better yourself and how to honor yourself and others and the Earth, well, you're doing pretty darn good.brazenbirdhttp://brazenbird.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
